Both Ruben and his personally selected station manager hire are pretending that they fear for their safety. There has never been a history of violence at KBOO, and there is no threat of violence there now.

I have noticed that bullies often pretend that any complaint or contention against their aggression is injurious or a threat.

I also noticed that transgender women are often accused of being loud or violent. That is not because we are actually particularly loud or violent, but because our existence is seen as a transgression in the first place, and is often pretended that we are deranged-- indeed, that our gender expression is a manifestation of mental illness. This is simply bigotry. The facts do not support it.

AFAIK KBOO has done no such thing. KBOO has said, due to confidentiality, they can't comment one way or the other. And if there was no wrong doing, then why did Ani let herself be quitfired? Even Ani alludes to this, advertising her "retirement" party in "quotes".

This despite a fishing expedition that sought to find any foible over a period of 18 years of employment.

Again, yet Ani chose to quit. And NOT involve the Union. Odd behavior for someone who had no wrongdoing.

On May 20, the same day Haines was placed on leave, the website SaveKBOO.org activated after a six-year dormancy, posting a copy of the KBOO bylaws. Soon after that an online petition began circulating that linked to SaveKBOO.org. The petition, titled "Keep KBOO true to its values," said Haines was not being treated fairly and also questioned other actions by the board since January, when KBOO's then station manager resigned.

The petition called for the recall of board president Ruban Lawrence and vice president Danielle Parks, who'd been serving as interim station manager while another one could be hired.

Sorry TM and fans. It's really obvious this drama is about TM retaliating because Ani was disciplined. There is no other way to read it.

There's an element of panic too. Mitchell didn't wait but registered the same day.

Several KBOO veterans and former board members say the politics at the station boil down to personality-driven factions and an incestuous workplace — one where social connections and sexual relationships between paid staff, volunteers and board members can lead to strained relations and allegations of harassment.

Reality check: this is not the description of a healthy work environment. This is a toxic hostile work environment. The fact TM and fans can't see this says volumes. It also make the idea that sexual harassment allegations are more credible than not, if only because with a mix of flakes with no boundaries trouble was going to happen sooner or later. It's amazing it's taken 20 years.

Haines, through an intermediary, declined to comment, referring a reporter to the union. The union and Mitchell did not respond to requests for a comment.

That's interesting too. Haines and the Union make sense, but when has Mitchell turned down a chance to run her mouth? She's chatty in comments.

Earlier this year, Christie, an old ex-friend of mine, and Anne-Marie of HR answers, then an employee or contractor with KBOO radio, met at PK restaurant to discuss the 18 years of the volunteer coordinator's employment. It was a fishing expedition, seeking damaging revelations, in which my sexual orientation, gender dysphoria, and proclivities were brought up along with my spouse's, and discussed so loudly, that a friend of mine actually noticed from across the room, and photographed that congress in action.

Of course I find it very disturbing to think that, under the color of an official and (by pretense) necessary action, my personal behavior and intimate details of my personal life should be discussed--and mocked-- loudly in public.

The "investigation" failed, by admission of KBOO, to find any wrongdoing, but it resulted in public insults which continue to this day, and even on this forum.

That fact, that I was defamed, has been brought to the KBOO board months ago. And yet there has never been any attempt to address, explain, or apologize for that action.

I consider it a gross violation of my privacy, and as it has been proven, it was an act of public defamation without legitimate basis, and an act of defamation. That effort was clearly part of a general campaign to break up the union power of the staff at KBOO. My spouse was a union steward, you see. More than that, her long and vigorous efforts to support the viability of the station had given her great knowledge and power within the proceedings of the democratic deliberative bodies that make up KBOO.

So my question is: when will the current Board leadership of KBOO apologize for their aggressive invasion of my privacy? I've been waiting for a long time for an answer. The issue has never been brought up by the Board, and has never been addressed.

I am still waiting.

Let's get this straight: Christie and Anne-marie were meeting, and a friend of yours happened to be in the same restaurant, at the same time, and be prepared with a camera? (Which as someone has pointed out is NOT a public place, but private property?)

How likely is that? NO CHANCE. More like Christie is not an "ex-friend" but currently in contact with Mitchell and meeting the investigator in bad faith, coordinating with the wife of the subject of the investigation.

And remember, no one would even know about this "privacy invading" event IF MITCHELL HADN'T PUBLISHED IT ON HER BLOG IN MAY.

"The corporate HR person that was hired, a certain Miss Rupert, was photographed and overheard at PK Restaurant, more than a month ago, attempting to dig out decades-old information about Ani. So this is public information, and it is not a matter of me breaking the confidentiality of the investigation. The Investigator herself did that!

To add to that now-public information: this HR expert then posted on her LinkedIn profile that she had been conducting an 18-year investigation. This flies in the face of what we were told, that there was some emergent circumstance that required Ani be removed from the station. "

1. Theresa admits to breaking confidentiality of investigation. As someone has said, conversations overheard in a restaurant, which is private property, are not public. Also note she doesn't seem at all personally upset by the conversation. If it was full of transphobia the TM we know wouldn't wait until now to tell everyone about it.

2. Theresa is coy first saying Ms. Rupert, then Annie-Marie. Whose trying to violate whose privacy?

3. The story is first Ruppert was "overheard" and then photographed. Now it's implying Ruppert was having a conversation so loud the entire restaurant could hear? Did the manager come out at some point and ask these people at the table to pipe down? And why haven't we seen this photo? It's probably on a phone and faces can be 'shopped out. But it would give a good idea of exactly how far apart these tables are.

Now the way Theresa tells it the investigator is having a loud conversation at the top of her lungs to a goon of Theresa's, so loud, diner's must be turning their heads and, from the other side of the room, in a coincidence so unlikely the participants should probably buy lottery tickets, ANOTHER one of Mitchell's friends who just happens to be also dining there, over hears and takes a photo, no doubt making the diners who are already annoyed at the loud conversation, REALLY annoyed people are now taking photos in a private venue where they did not consent to be photographed. And the manager was called AGAIN(these people!) to come and ask everyone to please act their age.

Maybe someone should call the restaurant and see if the staff remembers any of this. After all, if Tm is right and the main subject was someone mocking trans people so loudly the entire restaurant could hear, someone would remember. Heck, Theresa could sue under civil rights law. Why doesn't she do that? Because this story is bullshit, that's why.

In all her ranting about the board's crimes, if TM ever thought she was personally being targeted for being trans, we would have heard about it months ago. TM is pulling this out of her ass because the WHITE FAKE LEFTIST HAS BEEN CAUGHT TARGETING POC AND DISMISSING THEIR CLAIMS OF FEELING UNSAFE. TM is saying she's MORE oppressed even if it has nothing to do with the situation.

It's sad. TM seems to be de-compensating. Her lies are piling up.

During the mess in 2013, I had many conversations with people who were quietly supporting Lynn Fitch's attempt to establish accountability. During those conversation, without me asking, many long time KBOO people told me stories about Ani. Any one of them, if true, would have been sufficient to fire Ani in any normal workplace. I can't share the stories because that would be second person hearsay, but I can tell you my jaw hit the floor. Apparently many of the times the BOD had to deal in closed session with personnel it was about Ani, and for some reason she didn't carefully pack the BOD in this moment to protect her.

Both Ruben and his personally selected station manager hire are pretending that they fear for their safety. There has never been a history of violence at KBOO, and there is no threat of violence there now.

Again, Theresa lies.

I personally attended meetings where we were informed that staff had called the police earlier because they felt physically threatened, and I witnessed verbal threats and verbal abuse of staff and volunteers, in the building and in meetings. This is completely separate from the print abuse that various staff and volunteers heaped on others online. I remember one incident, when one high level staffer called police because they felt threatened in their own office, afterwards Ani minimized the threat and an argument between staff broke out during a meeting. Ani suggested that there wasn't any appropriate time to bring in the "boys and girls with guns" or something very similar to that quote.

Kyle Brun has pointed out that I, in my struggle to re-democratize KBOO, have been referring to them as he. This means that I owe them an apology, of course!
