Goodbye from Ed
About five years ago, Jack (Yankl) Falk decided to recruit new hosts for the Yiddish Hour so he and Reva could retire after thirty years serving the Jewish community with radio shows. I was one of the people who agreed to join KBOO and take the training to be able to keep the radio show going.
Most of the people I've met at KBOO have been wonderful, especially the other music program hosts and especially the diverse and thoughtful people who take care of Sunday programs. However there is a darker side to KBOO radio. If you're concerned about KBOO you can read my comments at
kboo.fm/content/kbooatacrossroads
and also at
kboo.fm/content/thesadstateofkboo .
You may have noticed articles re KBOO in Willamette Week and the Mercury. These only scratch the surface of what's going on internally at KBOO. If you really are concerned and want to read through a lot of blog posts about what's happening to KBOO governance, I can recommend
SaveKBOOFromSaveKBOO.blogspot.com
for a sometimes entertaining, but very informative read. Hint, you'll have to go back to the posts from June and July to get a sense of what started this ... and you'll have to understand the blog was setup to sattire the ruling clique at KBOO.
It has been a true honor and pleasure to bring radio to you over the last five years. Don't worry, I'm not going away and will work to find a better way to bring entertaining and meaningful media to our Jewish community. It just won't be at KBOO. August 25th is my last show.
