BIG NEWS OUR PAL THOM HARTMANN on KBOO!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mon. Oct. 7, 2013 Contact: Erin Yanke, KBOO Program Director 503-231-8032
Thom Hartmann on KBOO Starting Monday, October 7!
For 45 years, KBOO community radio has been at the heart of progressive Portland - providing a forum for neglected perspectives, promoting diverse community events and sharing local and national news, as well as offering independent musicians a place to showcase their work on the radio.
We are still going strong, and have supporters from all over the world. Progressive talk radio host Thom Hartmann is a big supporter of KBOO, and loves the deep analysis of topical political issues heard on a daily basis on KBOO.
Over the last few months, we've been trying to decide whether to air any part of Thom Hartmann's 3 hour daily talk radio program. We've heard from a lot of you, from both sides of this question, and have listened hard in trying to decide what to do.
A personal appeal from Thom, in addition to the community support for his program, has pushed us to agree to offer a temporary 3-month, one-hour a day time slot to Thom Hartmann on KBOO. We are happy to hear that X-RAY FM will carry his show, and KBOO is working closely with the new station to coordinate programming. We will possibly carry the Thom Hartmann Show as a stop-gap until the new station starts up and begins to play all three hours. But we are open to your suggestions, and flexible in order to meet our community's needs.
Thom Hartmann will air on KBOO for a 3 month trial period starting Monday, October 7th from 4 - 5 pm on weekdays. This will include the popular 'Lunch with Bernie' talk show with Independent Senator Bernie Sanders on Fridays.
Call 503-231-8032 and give us some feedback! Love it? Hate it? We want to know! Let us know what you think!!
KBOO is YOUR community radio station and we want to hear from you.
And don't forget to support diverse, progressive, independent community radio by donating during our membership drive October 10th - 26th. Donate online anytime. Here is a membership form!

Pals: Has anyone gone over to KBOO yet and actually filled out a new program request form? There is a process for this kind of action, and it is very simple. Go over to 20 SE 8th Street and fill out the form. It is right on the wall there in the lobby. Speaking as a member of the KBOO board of directors I can say it is my understanding that no actual proposal form had been filled out and filed as of Monday. Pals, get someone over there and fill out the form, then the Programming Committee can take this up and make a decision. They are cool and smart but I can't vouch for their ESP abilities. Right? Thank you. And thanks a ton for the feedback.
