I have been a loyal KBOO follower for years. I had been out of town for the last few months to help my mother after her surgery.
Now, I am starting to question if KBOO is worth listening to, it might even be dangerous to be a follower of KBOO.
Starting several weeks ago, an obvious and very annoying "tick" or "crackle" started coming thru the air signal at KBOO. Listening to it for long could give headaches. KBOO is aware, but this problem has not been resolved.
Starting a couple weeks ago, a serious problem began with their web streaming signal. It would stop, buffer, restart, stop, buffer, restart; this would happen over and over. I tried different computers and different internet connections all with the same results. KBOO is aware, but this problem is not resolved.
Starting yesterday the KBOO website began attacking visiting computers with malware and a virus. KBOO is aware and has not yet resolved the problem of their website attacking visiting computers with malware and viruses. Talking to others around the station, we find out that part of the problem is that the KBOO membership database and their online payment database were both compromised and KBOO is attempting to secure these databases, but has been unable to achieve success.
All these serious problems make KBOO nearly un-listenable and the security breaches of their web site are all happening during the KBOO pledge drive. When KBOO should be sounding it's best and looking it's best, KBOO is at it's worst. KBOO entered into the pledge drive knowing that their air signal sounded poor with all the crackling and popping, yet did nothing to fix the problem.
Below is an e-mail I received form Andrew Geller, the membership director for KBOO. He acknowledges that the air signal problem is affecting everyone and he acknowledges that the web stream issues are also effecting both his home and his work computers.
All these massive problems continue on but KBOO has not taken any action to create a resolution.
I know KBOO let chief engeer John Mackie go a few months ago. Who is fixing (or not fixing) KBOO now?
Without a station manager and without an engineer, KBOO seems to be going down the tubes.
Here is the e-mail I received from Andrew Geller acknowledging their problems:

Thanks very much for taking the time to send your email. I totally understand your frustration regarding the quality of the air signal and web stream. Tom Hood, our interim engineer will respond today with more detail than I can provide to you.
The air signal issue is present for all broadcast listeners at 90.7 FM however the web stream issue does not effect all web listeners, but it does effect me both at work and home.
