Friday, May 30th, is our last Positively Revolting program until September. Lyn and I are taking our first summer break! Tomorrow morning we will talk about violence against women- calling out systemic violence and micro-aggressions alike. I hope that you can be a part of this on-going conversation, call the studio at 503-231-8187. We are live on KBOO Community Radio, 8 - 9 am.

Alright, the popular rumor is true-- I am leaving town for three months at the end of this week. And I got to thinking, I miss Portland peeps already. How will I get by for another three months???

If you have time and inclination, I thought a little gathering would be nice...

This Wednesday, June 4th, 4:30 pm at A Roadside Attraction, 1000 SE 12th (just south of Belmont). Please feel free to tell others. My best guess is we'll be there til 7 at least....

Press Watch and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary. We've spent a delightful night at the Crystal Hotel, soaking in the pool, and dining well. Twenty-years ago, Theresa asked me over to her place for a beer. I was over to her place as fast as my pink '68 VW Fastback would get me there (and I don't even like beer). The thing is, I never really left.....

I arrived in Bucerias just 11 hours after getting to the Portland airport, and cleared customs in an hour (busiest I've seen the PV airport). After a quick dip in the pool, and some cerviche for dinner, I actually unpacked everything and put it all away. This is a first for me, but since I'm living in this small studio for three months, it seemed like the only logical thing to do.

In the morning we are taking the bus to Tepic, and are getting a hotel room there for the night. There will be danzon in the plaza tomorrow night, and I hear tale of a great museum, and some other special goings on there. I will be giving a full report upon our return to Casa Tranquila Monday evening.

Wow- moments after my last status update, I heard something like a burst pipe, with torrential water pouring from something. I went to check it out, and found out it was the sky. So this is a rainshower in a tropical rainy season!!! After a few minutes, I found Grace and Christine stepping outside there room to see what was happening. After moments we were drenched to the bone, so we did the only thing that made sense.... we stripped and jumped in the pool, watching, listening and feeling.

So moments after 11:16 PM, this down pour starts, Grace and Christine stepped out(because the only way to find out it's raining is to get soaked to the skin), threw off their cloths and jumped in the pool together. For about a half hour. The posted on Facebook about it.

It's possible that's the first thing to do after unpacking after a long flight. Possible but not likely.
