Okay, you say to yourself. A clique of loons has taken over KBOO community radio. Why not let them self destruct? Problem solved, right?
Trouble is they have a history of 'dodging bullets" and luring competent people into keeping KBOO on life support. Also, their entire MO requires them to network and interact with the larger progressive and radical communities, adding to their knowledge base of people they can rope into the con. All it takes is convincing one group via lies, fear mongering and selective memory that KBOO is under assault by anti progressive forces (corporations, the gubmint, cointelpro, etc), and they can manipulate a reactionary response in their favor from otherwise thoughtful intelligent educated people.
This is what we suspect has happened to the Portland Indymedia newswire. Even news the most radical anarchist would consider worrying(misspent/mismanaged funds) is composted, that is hidden from the newswire, so people giving money are not able to make an informed decision. This can only happen if the entire PIMC has sold out it's principles, or more likely, is being swayed by a volunteer who is a close associate of Inner Party Members. And if you can convince PIMC that KBOO is in danger because of nebulous corporate forces, then it's only a short step to convince them to fight these evil corporate forces they need to share ISP traffic from comments.
The clique and their contacts in the community also exploit vulnerable groups,using a base of valid social issues as a platform to radicalize people in their own image. For instance Lisa Loving is active in the African-American politics through the publication The Skanner. And established institution in it's own right, like many it's under staffed and underfunded, and therefore vulnerable to wolves in sheep's clothing tactics.
Another vulnerable group the clique has access to is the homeless. Two longtime KBOO members and close associates of both Theresa and Ani, Mike Tabor aka Joe Anybody, and John Walsh aka Lone Vet, have been active "helping" the homeless. This help comes in the form of encouraging Cameron Whitten in a misguided hunger strike(notice Inner Party and associates never put themselves at risk), and harassing City Council Woman Amanda Fritz.
The effects of the cancer are not contained in KBOO, but taint the entire progressive community, including gay right, women's rights and the peace movement. While many organizers are have a good bullshit detector, many others are new or simply don't know the history to see these people's actions in context.
Much of the information found here, the KBOO Inner party will not tell you, will not explain and would prefer you not know. ask yourself why that is.
This is "news they don't want you to know". Without it progressives won't be able to make an informed choice about if or how much they want to get involved with KBOO, much less if they should be giving their money to KBOO.
Without more people educating themselves about how a progressive organization acquired a top down controlling culture, it will be easier for these people, or others like them, to spread their cancer throughout the leftist communities, leaving some organizations progressive only in name, and contributing nothing to the cause of social justice.
