you're right about jefferson, all the things you mentioned.
Kbots will work on exploiting it, but their numbers are low, along with their intelligence.
But Jefferson's a politician, knows how to spin things, and has connections in the press. He can get an article featured much more prominently than Theresa can.
Look at the crap he says here on the blueoregon article. He doesn't know anything about the BOO except maybe some blue oregon stuff from this summer. He goes out of his way to pay respect for the boo, talk about becoming members, then says we'll all work together. Spin, spin, spin
Jefferson D Smith · Harvard University · 192 subscribers Something pretty cool is that there is real effort towards a growing community radio movement. (The senior board members of Xray became KBOO members, as one small example of this. Shout out to KBOO who has been doing community radio for my lifetime. Also, a local organization with some XRay relationships is also serving as the fiscal sponsor for the new Portland Radio Project. PRP looks like they are doing some cool stuff too.) Also shout out for KMUZ in Salem and more.
It would be very cool if an ethic "stronger together than we are apart" can sometimes win the day in what sometimes seems like a pretty competitive sector. Reply · 6 · · October 3 at 2:22pm
The amazing thing is had Lynn been allowed to actually clean things up, KBOO would be getting featured articles about serving the community with KBOO, rather than the current situation of steve law and indy media.
The inner party thought they were the only game in town. They're stuck in the 20th century. Competition is fierce these days, the inner party thought it didn't need to share and improve, but could rely on being the only option.
If Xray does what it's talking about, money will flee the boo. Imagine if the bluegrass and grateful dead programs leave and take all those pledge dollars with them.
Maybe amy goodman will say she wants to get in on the xray train too, then it's just lisa loving, per, and theresa asking for money.
Take away democracy now and bluegrass and kboo has no more members

Glorious Leader, April 27, 2013:
"In fact, KBOO had a bright future before these changes were pushed through. We had lost some audience for morning public affairs to KPOJ, which was wiped out by its won top-down corporate management; that audience is returning."
LOL. Happy times were coming, because KBOO had a lock on the "progressive" radio market. Ooops. Think again, TM.

If his influence helps starve a micro cult out of existence, without hurting anyone else, we'll take it. For now. People just need to remember: he is not your friend. He's an opportunist and not to be trusted farther than you can throw him. And lol @ "LOL" and "Dang".

Blue Oregon!
Just got this email from Blue Oregon, talking about Thom on the BOO and asking for donations to Blue Oregon, classic!
We did it. Once again, you've shown that when we come together and take action at BlueOregon, we can make a difference. When Thom Hartmann offered his show to KBOO, 6051 of you signed the petition calling on KBOO to add Thom to their lineup. This week, KBOO began airing one hour of Thom's show on weekdays at 4 p.m. You can now listen to Thom at 90.7 FM in Portland (and 91.1 in Hood River and 104.3 in Corvallis). And soon, you'll also be able to hear all three hours of Thom's show on XRAY FM. The BlueOregon Save KPOJ community spoke out. KBOO listened. And Thom Hartmann is back on the air.
Since 2004, BlueOregon has stood up for our progressive values -- and served as a critical source of news, information and original commentary for Oregon progressives. As the "water cooler" around which progressives gather, we're also a key organizer of this community. The right-wing media has its sugar daddies -- the Koch Brothers, Rupert Murdoch, and many others. We don't. We have you.
As a supporter of progressive media, I hope you'll take a moment and chip in for BlueOregon. A $5 monthly contribution helps us build long-term capacity for progressive change. YES, I'll become a $5 monthly supporter of BlueOregon. Keep up the fight!
NO, I can't commit to monthly, but I'll donate $20 right now.
Conservatives have many well-funded media outlets, even in a blue state like ours. Your support for progressive media is vital to keeping our state blue. Help keep BlueOregon strong by donating today. Thanks for all you do, Carla Axtman BlueOregon Action Save KPOJ

TM has joined the discussion: Since when did Jim Hightower get sucked into the "BOO"? He has been on KBOO. In 2009: Can't find him on the website at all right now. Another "exaggeration" courtesy of Theresa Mitchell?

I was going to post the fundraising letter from Blue Oregon as well.
This should really enrage the kbots - Blue Oregon is fundraising off the fact that Hartmann is coming to KBOO (while cruelly mentioning that XRAY will have the complete Hartmann show), while not making the slightest suggestion that people should also donate to KBOO.
LOL.

LOL. And it heavily implies that the reason KBOO is carrying Thom is because of Blue Oregon's petition: Well played, Carla. But this will not "play well in Peoria", that is to the Kbot base. It's a fine juggling act they've been doing: claiming to be a left community resource, mangling radical and anarchist philosophy, keeping their Tea Party friends close by while still appearing to be progressive...and attacking Blue Oregon Democrats as the far right. All the while begging the public... and Blue Oregon... to help fund their dysfunctional three ring circus. We're about to find out how many Kbots really believe the batty right libertarian woo that Democrats = Republicans, and how many are on the I "HEART" Thom scam. Or(according to some) how far they'll go to anonymously trash Thom while pretending to support him.

Suggested script for talking to a KBOO volunteer during the fall membership drive:
"Thanks, but I've already donated to Blue Oregon!
That's the same thing as donating to KBOO, right?"
LOL.

Definitely well played by Carla, although I'd say it's a legitimate claim. When Thom made his offer, the current programming staff turned it down cold. Lynn Fitch then resurrected it and sent out a KBOO survey, which got a few hundred responses I think. BlueOregon then got 5,000 or 6,000 people to sign their petition (more than the entire kboo membership). They presented it in a nice package and drew attention to it on there well read website. Without all that attention, it never would have gone on air.
And now you have Theresa on WWeek promoting the fact that Thom is on the BOO, when a few months ago she fought tooth and nail against that.

FOIL HAT ALERT! Mitchell's showing her "truther" roots now! Hey, don't be sad Theresa. Only by YOU working with Jew hater loons at Ghost Troop, was Portland saved from a dirty bomb! For what it's worth, I sincerely doubt Hartmann believes the 911 attacks were an "Inside job".

Hey Lulzbot, what Jew haters? I don't follow you with that thought. Palestinian news doesn't mean Jew hater for sure. What did I miss? - not sure what Ghost Troop means I guess.
Missing Democracy now at 4 is a big loss, I agree.

..to this can be found on the board: Hey Lulzbot, what Jew haters? I don't follow you with that thought. Palestinian news doesn't mean Jew hater for sure. What did I miss? - not sure what Ghost Troop means I guess. Ghost Troop = tinfoil antisemite conspiracy lunacy run by a clown in Texas called Captain May: www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/06/16/museum.shooting/Theresa Mitchell has an ongoing relationship documented at Indymedia, right-wing list serves and KBOO itself. It's all on her page here: operationfreespeech.boards.net/thread/13/theresa-mitchell-aka-presswatchHard to miss this shit. Mitchell was mocked for it mercilessly at SKFSK. And Ghost Troop has nothing to do with Palestinian rights/activism.
