Anonymity: pluses and minuses

So you want to tell your KBOO story but you don't want to sign your name. You've seen how other people were treated, people who admittedly were public figures, but still. You have only to look at Theresa Mitchell's list of haranguing lies attakcing Lynne Fitch to wonder if you should just keep your mouth shut.
And if you do decide to post anonymously, and you're dead on the money, you can expect the Inner Party goons to accuse you of cowardice, no matter how accurate your facts are.
What are you to do?
Anonymity:
First, as long as you don't abuse it(ie spread lies), anonymity is a right. But it comes with responsibilities. Because your name is not connected to what you say, you have a greater obligation to be accurate and diligent about your facts, and distinguished them from speculation and opinion. It's a smart idea for anyone. But if you chose to operate anonymously it's the only credibility you have.
And internet safety experts will caution you about sharing personal information with any Tom, Dick or Jane online. Anyone demanding your personal information and calling a coward for not sharing is trying to manipulate you, and possibly defraud you.
Non-Anonymous:
You've already come out in public against these nuts and you don't care. Okay. But that doesn't mean they know you're posting here. The benefits of being non-anonymous is to readers unfamiliar with stalking behaviors you will have greater credibility. But you will also be a target and must expect anything you write here can and will be used against you by the "Inner Party". Remember except for the Actions and Lemonade Brigade boards, all board content is viewable to the public.
Flaws in the KKK manipulators logic:
KBOO is a PUBLIC non profit organization. The PUBLIC, anonymous or not, has a right to ask questions and make critiques about how KBOO is run.
KKK members claiming to be "attacked" or "harassed" are self appointed public figures. Public figures can be critiqued anonymously; it happens all the time. The only time this is a problem is when anonymity is used for abuse, personal attacks and spreading lies. Like what Theresa Mitchell was doing at PIMC earlier this year to Lynn Fitch.

The choice to be a public figure or a private citizen is yours alone to make.
