Who Killed KRAB-FM?

KRAB-FM was not only a significant part of KBOO's history, it's closing was invoked in the recent revolt and eventual coup by KBOO conservatives. These conservative members of the staff, and at least one of their significant others, as well as the hapless KBOO members they fooled with their lies, successfully resisted the radical changes sought by the then Board of Directors -- changes long needed, called for by the strategic plan, and critical to KBOO's survival.
These KBOO conservatives could not convincingly argue the facts, so they lied about the changes sought by the then Board of Directors. They also practiced the politics of personal destruction, attempting to kill the messengers by way of lies and innuendo. Their tactics so alienated Board members that two successive board Secretaries, and the board Treasurer (and member of the Executive Committee) resigned. Their tactics lead me to alert the press about the problems at KBOO. For this whistle-blowing, I was removed from the Board -- which was fine by me. I believe in mercy killing.
Prior to that, one of the most pathological liars in the bunch tried to connect me with closure of KRAB some 30 years ago. Apparently I killed KRAB and, three decades later, emerged from my deep cover to do the same at KBOO. Makes sense to me! The evidence of my critical role in shutting down KRAB in 1984? My name was listed six years prior, in the 1978 program guide, as a twice a month ethnic music program host. Perhaps I played the abrasive Ramayana Monkey Chant or the provocative Peul tribe pygmy flagellation chants once too often. Perhaps the programs featuring indigenous music from Antarctica or ritual Hibachi music so alienated listeners that KRAB had no choice but to shut down. Perhaps they too believed in mercy killing.
I did serve on several Boards in Seattle, among them Washington State's premier Media Arts Center, 911. (KBOO aspires to be a media arts organization. Good luck with that.) However, I never served on the Board of the Jack Straw Memorial Foundation, who operated -- and shut down -- KRAB.
Guess who else helped shut down KRAB? Station founders Lorenzo Milam, Gary and Marguerite Margason. The bastards. Photos and audio of KRAB's last night of broadcast are available. If you look at the photos, I am nowhere to be found -- unless you believe I'm actually Lorenzo Milam himself. It could be true. It's at least more believable than the lies told by the KBOO conservatives who presided over the decline in listeners, members and financial reserves for over a decade now and who fought so desperately -- and despicably -- to resist the revolution and remain in power.
In another 30 years I imagine will be accused of trying to shut down KAOS-FM, the community radio station in Olympia, WA -- where I also was a music program host. In 60 years, the focus will be KBCS-FM, the community radio station in Bellevue, WA -- former host there too. At least those stations, unlike KBOO, are likely to survive that long.
