That's the plan. That's been the plan all along, even way back in the spring Which plan was this that you knew about way back in spring? Spring was when the Kbots started the Fitch as an evil corporatist. Remember? From when? How do you know that? It is? I thought the point was to educate and connect with people, not just watch. Sounds like you've been around Kbots too long.

Man, you guys and gals sure are jumpy.
Yes, Nasser is a hoot. He's a willing tool. F him.
Using technically well produced popular programs from out of town to help fund a radio station is standard operating procedure. KBOO uses Democracy Now. OPB uses Morning Edition and All Things Considered. I don't remember who uses Rush Limbaugh for the same reasons, and don't much care. Is it KEX?
Not that I'm endorsing Limbaugh, just saying radio uses popular programs to get enough listeners to be viable, no matter if it's commercial or non profit. You get listeners and either sell advertising or solicit donations. The big programs end up financing the little programs.
The plan all along (remember, KBOO is now implementing MY PLAN that was a modification of LYNN'S PLAN) was to use Hartmann to help stabilize the finances of KBOO. Yes, before things got totally out of hand a lot of good people thought they could still save KBOO and make it a better place, me included.
My opinion of the drive and financial short term future is my opinion. Your mileage may vary. Some may disagree with me on timing. Whatever. I'm sharing my opinion having carefully managed my small businesses finances through the last 30 years, and having some idea how people in a crisis behave. This is like the stock market or any national political trends, nothing happens in a straight line.
Educate and connect? To a limited extent, more like filing this experience away as a cautionary tale. I'm watching the slow moving disaster from a distance, having left KBOO for good. I don't expect anything to change and am putting my efforts and valuable time elsewhere.

I thought the point was to educate and connect with people, not just watch. Sounds like you've been around Kbots too long. It's okay. Any one who can't be bothered to tell people still fooled by Ani's cult about this forum can feel free to "lurk moar". There's a rumor I heard that Ani wants people to feel sorry for her being "attacked" or "trashed" here. Problem with that theory is we're convinced the last thing she wants is any of her Kbots to know about, much less read this forum. The blog was bad enough. But the potential of genuine back and forth terrifies her. So does dialog. For instance, Ani, Theresa, Lisa etc can come and explain themselves anytime they want to. They don't even need to register. But they don't. It's "Good Roads and Fair Weather" all over again.

Will these figures be audited at the end of the drive. Because I don't believe they're real.
I don't believe if they've been losing 40-50 members per month this year, they have the base to bring in the cash they always have. Which looks like it's going to happen. Not buying it. They can't have less people and get the same, or near same, money per drive. Unless there's an angel donor involved.
Anyone know if KBOO donations are public information? Like campaign donations?

Halooo, Respected Traitor Readers!
We have already begun celebrating the great Membership Drive Victory, thanks to the untiring efforts of KBOO's award-winning paid staff! Martial law has been declared, and the Varna Riot Police And Foreclosure Eviction Specialists have already had to deploy their much-feared Armored Mobile Drunk Tanks! With the automatic tear gas dispensers on the AMDTs firing randomly into the crowds, we are increasingly having a festival atmosphere, Varna-style!
Again, congratulations on your Historic Victory - we have to leave now, because the wind is starting to shift! All of Varna is celebrating!

Well, the Winter Drive has run through it's previously announced end date of Feb 15th, and KBOO raised 64% of it's goal. Fundraising continues as they have no other choice ... most likely one or two more weeks.
If the Spring drive (April isn't far off) also has difficulty meeting goals, then we will have seen the long term trend of declining revenues and membership continue.

How can you expect KBOO to hit its membership goal when a snow storm wreaked havoc last weekend. I mean, how can you expect people to contribute to kboo when the city encourages everyone to stay indoors and they have nothing to do except listen to the radio...and support kboo? wait I'm confused...

Our Winter Membership Drive has ended but you can still Donate!
Donations as of 02/19/2014 4PM: $86,665
Drive Goal: $94,000 ----------------------------------
Why was the goal so low? Wasn't it higher in recent years? What was actually budgeted by the Board for this drive, if indeed they were ever able to come up with one?
